We scheduled our shoot for 6pm at Lawrencetown Beach and I texted them to say I would be 15 minutes late. They texted and said they would need 10 minutes more. I laughed and wrote back, “Me too!”
When I pulled my car up next to theirs Rachel hopped out and said they had arrived not a minute before. She said, “I just had faith the timing was going to work out perfectly.” And I knew then and there that I really, really liked this couple.
As we walked up over the boardwalk and onto the beach we realized that is was windy. And I don’t mean gentle summer breeze windy. I’m talking hair-whipping, blowin’ a gale windy. But that didn’t deter Rachel and CJ and for that I am so relieved. If ever the wind-in-your-hair look worked for somebody, it’s Rachel. You can’t deny that she is one beautiful girl.
We had fun sitting in the sand dunes, wrapping up in a snuggly blanket and playing with an awesome heart-shaped rock (what a fortuitous find!). CJ was a trooper – coming off his bachelor party AND a trip to Boston for Game 4 just the day before. I was a little worried at first, encouraging him to smile bigger and more. But then Rachel reassured me that this was CJ’s look – his happy face, neutral face, mad face – apparently he’s very even-keeled. An excellent attribute when dealing with two girls and a camera on a beach, might I add.
I love how these photos turned out and am super pumped for their August wedding in Halifax.
